The 61st Street Service Corporation, provides administrative and clinical support staff for ColumbiaDoctors. This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.
Job Summary:
The X-Ray Technologist will work under the direction of the Divisional Administrator and the Technical Director.
Job Responsibilities:
- Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are communicated to the radiologist for final approval.
- Position patient and select appropriate options to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy of interest based on accepted X-Ray principles and the referring physician’s request.
- Judges diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
- Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing and archiving of patient records.
- Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
- Observe patient while in the X-Ray area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
- Identify and correct problems as appropriate, with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.
- Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data; schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections. Schedule all quarterly and semi-annual Physics Evaluation requirements.
- Participate in application for/and maintenance of ACR accreditation of facility.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalency required.
- Completion of accredited AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology required.
- NYS License required.
- ARRT certification required.
- BLS certification required.
- Work in a medical facility subject to electrical, chemical, magnetic and radiant hazards; exposure to infectious disease and lifting hazards.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal, and emotional intelligence skills, including strong service orientation. Ability to deliver consistently exceptional service while demonstrating tact, respect, and empathy, with both patients and health care team. Ability to deescalate stressful situations.
- Strong aptitude for detail, flexibility, punctuality, and ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.
- Must be an engaged team member, demonstrating collaboration, inclusion, reliability, and adaptability to new and changing situations.
- Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and respectful manner while appreciating the unique contributions of an inclusive workforce that brings together the talents of people across multiple identities.
- Strong commitment to fostering diversity and equity.
- Proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.
- 1-2 years of prior experience preferred.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $39.01 - $58.79
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
