Job Summary:
The Senior PET/CT Technologist is an experienced professional with strong collaboration and leadership skills. In this role, the incumbent will support a collaborative team of technologists by providing day-to-day guidance and mentorship and supporting quality assurance and control activities. The incumbent will perform all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving PET images, and will be responsible for the care of the patient while in the PET area.
Job Responsibilities:
- Greet and interact with patients, visitors, vendors, and all faculty and staff.
- Perform PET studies and general radiological procedures:
- Review imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. Review all questionable orders with the radiologist and, at the radiologist’s discretion, the referring physician.
- Operate PET CT scanner to perform cardiac, oncologic, and brain studies and non-diagnostic CT.
- Position patient and select appropriate options to ensure best-case imaging.
- Observe patient while in the PET area for change in status and make appropriate intervention or contact primary care givers for instruction.
- Judge diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
- Offer detailed explanation of diagnostic procedures to patients and answer questions as appropriate.
- Process, transfer, and back up PET CT data in appropriate image formats as per the procedure.
- Under guidance and approval of the physician, calculate, measure, administer, and record radiopharmaceutical dosages received, used, and disposed.
- Operate and maintain equipment on a daily basis, maintaining logbooks with equipment performance data: schedule PM, perform QA, maintain records required for and participate in inspections. Perform PET CT and dose calibrator equipment quality checks daily, quarterly, and annually, and troubleshoot problems. Call for service and notify all pertinent team members.
- Perform clerical responsibilities associated with acquisition, processing, and archiving of patient records.
- Other duties as assigned.
Role-Specific Duties
- Assist with onboarding and training of new or less experienced technologists. Share knowledge and offers guidance/mentorship to facilitate team collaboration and a supportive environment.
- May assist manager to ensure adequate coverage and address related issues as directed.
- Participate in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care. Bring safety and quality events, concerns and needs to debriefs/safety huddles. Collaborate with team members on quality-related projects.
- Assist manager on Quality Control and Assurance measures, including testing and auditing as appropriate.
- Increase transparency, encourage event reporting, and advance the safety culture by participating in and facilitating safety huddles, patient safety activities, culture reinforcement, and shared learning.
- Assist with acquisition of images for ACR accreditation.
- Participate in inspection and inspection readiness activities.
Job Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalency required.

A minimum of 4 years’ relevant experience, including broad exposure to PETCT studies and experience operating PETCT equipment.

NYS License, ARRT or NMTCB certified; registration in ARRT (N) or CNMT required.

Current BLS required.

Demonstrated leadership proficiency in a team environment, including communication, training/knowledge-sharing, and problem-solving skills.

Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.

Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of facility policies and procedures.

Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, email systems, etc.

ARRT (CT) preferred.

Prior experience supporting training and onboarding activities is preferred.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $52.77 - $59.13
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
