Job Summary:

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) will serve as a key member of the patient care team in an ambulatory setting. This position will work closely with providers across multiple specialties as well as with other clinical and administrative staff to deliver an exceptional patient experience that contributes to positive health outcomes for patients and a work culture of empathy, communication, trust, safety, inclusion, and service.

Job Responsibilities:

• Greet patients and visitors, and answer telephone calls promptly.
• Prepare patients for their visit including pre-visit organization of information, taking vital signs, and medication reconciliation. Assist patients with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens and point of care testing, preparing for exam, etc.
• Perform additional check out functions such as scheduling, referrals and additional tasks as needed.
• Assisting physicians or other clinical staff with examinations, procedures, and department-specific therapies as requested.
• Performing phlebotomy duties and point-of-care tests such as urinalysis and pregnancy tests.
• Perform venipuncture and prepare and label collected specimens.
• Ensure proper labs are drawn and documented into EPIC. Enter orders into EPIC.
• Notifying physicians and nurses of emergencies and performing first aid.
• Processing, sterilizing, and organizing instruments daily.
• Prepare and maintain medical charts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Please note: In some practices and based on operational need, the CMA may be required to perform full scope of front desk duties in conjunction with or in lieu of CMA duties (e.g., check-in, pre-registration, appointment scheduling and related follow-up)

Job Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalency and graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• CMA/RMA must be certified by a credentialing body.
• Current BCLS/AED certification required.
• Must demonstrate strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to perform across multi- disciplinary and/or specialties while maintaining high productivity and a professional and service- oriented demeanor.
• Must have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a strong ability to deescalate stressful situations.
• Basic proficiency in computer skills including, but not limited to, Electronic Health Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Email systems, etc.
• Will provide coverage as requested throughout FPO practices (multiple sites and flexible schedule).
• Associate degree or additional academic coursework preferred.
• Previous medical assisting experience in an outpatient setting preferred.
• Proficiency with OSHA standards including disposal of biohazard waste preferred.
• Multi-specialty experience in a high-volume setting preferred.
• Prior EMR/EPIC experience preferred.

Hourly Rate Ranges: $21.00 - $33.17

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
