Dental Hygienist #Full Time

This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.

Job Summary:

The Dental Hygienist's major responsibilities are to assist and work directly with the Doctor in clinical treatment of the patients and to provide a liaison between patient and Doctor. The hygienist is also responsible for accurate entry of information in the patient's chart. Under supervision, the hygienist may perform certain legally allowed expanded functions of the position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend training seminars and continuing education courses as required
  • Help "sell" dentistry by educating patients on their dental needs and support necessary treatment: market the practice internally and externally
  • Greet, seat and have the proper set-up ready for the patient
  • Review and update the patient's medical history, motivators and concerns
  • Check patient's progress and record results in patient's chart
  • Take, process, label and mount patient x-rays and duplicates
  • Educate patient of their dental health quality during treatment
  • Give patient oral hygiene instructions, including tooth brushing, flossing, perio aids, waterjets, disclosing methods, stimulators, nutrition, oral rinses, etc.
  • Present patient with appropriate educational materials and samples and maintain these educational literatures
  • Assist the Doctor when they are examining the patient and record in chart as needed
  • Make sure the patient's chart is completed and all services for the day are recorded legibly
  • Return patient's chart to appointment administrator prior to dismissing the patient and sign the chart
  • Maintain the appearance of the hygiene treatment room, sterilization area, instrument and trays
  • Assist in maintaining all areas of the office: both staff and patient areas
  • Maintain continuing care supplies and forms and keep rooms stocked and clean
  • Clean and sharpen hygiene instruments; oil and otherwise maintain instruments
  • Escort patient between treatment room and reception area
  • Clean and maintain units; change filters as needed
  • Assist the Doctor in the clinical treatment of patients as time permits
  • Assist other staff members as time permits
  • Help with recall system, filling in of cancellations and no-shows; confirmation of patients
  • Call patients that may have had a difficult session during the day
  • Change solution in x-ray processor weekly, clean monthly and check levels of solution daily
  • Prepare water for distillation
  • Inventory daily equipment as needed

Job Qualifications:

  • Valid NYS Dental Hygienist Registration Certificate required.
  • High School diploma required / Completed an Accredited Program in Dental Hygiene required.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience as a RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist) required.

Annual Salary Ranges: $84,460.00 - $106,038.00

Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
