The 61st Street Service Corporation, provides administrative and clinical support staff for ColumbiaDoctors. This position will support ColumbiaDoctors, one of the largest multi-specialty practices in the Northeast. ColumbiaDoctors’ practices comprise an experienced group of more than 2,800 physicians, surgeons, dentists, and nurses, offering more than 240 specialties and subspecialties.
Job Summary:
The Echo Technician will use equipment to create images using high frequency sound waves into specific areas of the patient's body to obtain cardiovascular diagnostic information.
Job Responsibilities:
- Competent evaluating study images as acquired & able to adapt image acquisition obtaining optimal quality study.
- Perform pediatric echocardiograms and transmit for review by pediatric cardiology.
- Integrate patient history, medical record documentation, & lab results to adapt sonographic exam.
- Evaluates, synthesizes, and communicates preliminary findings to cardiologist and nursing staff.
- Perform all measurements and calculations necessary for each exam.
- Conduct laboratory duties as delegated by department director, manager, or senior technician.
- Assist cardiologist with probe positioning/support during transesophageal echo procedures.
- Maintains records for daily operations and assists in maintenance of documentation related to ICAEL certification/re-certification.
- Properly cares for cleaning & maintenance of TEE probe post exam.
- Educate patients, students, fellows and new technicians in all aspects of echocardiography.
- Participate in staff meetings, research studies, quality assurance activities and working groups. Cooperate and assist in obtaining institutional, divisional and departmental initiatives and goals.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent in education, training and experience in a clinical practice required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography from an accredited college preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Program required.
- Candidate must be ADRMS certified or ARDMS registry eligible. ARDMS eligible graduates from CAAHEP (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education) accredited program must be registered within 12 months of employment.
- ARDMS credentials must be maintained yearly.
- At least 1 year as a dedicated pediatric cardiac sonography preferred.
- Excellent oral/written communication skills, strong customer service background as well as proficiency in computers.
- Ability to operate ultrasound equipment efficiently, evaluate sonogram to acquire diagnostic information, communicate diagnostic information to physicians, follow department protocols an guidelines, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team.
Hourly Rate Ranges: $43.08 - $60.10
Note: Our salary offers will fall within these ranges based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, skill set, training and education.
